Cathay Williams is on the front and Bessie Stringer is on the back. Cathay Williams is the only known female Buffalo Soldier. In November of 1866 she enlisted as a man and used the name William Cathay. Due to being hospitalized frequently the post surgeon discovered she was a woman. Bessie Stringer taught herself to ride her first motorcycle at age 16. A 1928 Indian Scout. In 1930 she became the first woman to ride her motorcycle solo across the United States. She is credited with breaking down barriers for both Black motorcyclists and women. In 2002 she was posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame of The American Motorcyclist Association.
